BLOCKER Playbook (read only)
BLOCKER Playbook — Raise the 🔴 in ≤ 15 min§
(read-only, pin at the very top of 🔴 Blocked / Escalate list – duplicate if you need an editable copy)
🚨 TL;DR (Andon rule)§
If you’re stuck for more than 15 real-world minutes, you must: 1 ️⃣ Label the card 🔴 Blocker 2 ️⃣ Ping with
/alertin Telegram.
Managers are measured on clearing blockers fast—but only if you surface them.
🛑 What counts as a blocker?§
| Type | Examples |
|---|---|
| Missing input | Waiting on client asset / login / unclear task scope |
| Technical breakage | Script errors, API down, access denied |
| Knowledge gap | Oracle bot & Self-Help checklist exhausted, still no answer |
| Dependency over WIP cap | Another teammate’s Q1 card needed before you can continue |
If the task can still move forward (⇢ workaround in <15 min) it’s not a blocker—add a comment and continue.
5-Step Andon Protocol§
| # | Action | Clockify? |
|---|---|---|
| 1 (0-15 min) | Pause → run Self-Help Checklist (KQ-SOP-3). | ⏱️ Keep original timer running. |
| 2 (≤15 min) | No luck? Add 🔴 label to the card. | — |
| 3 (immediately) | In /manager (ops blockers) or /systems-kitchen (knowledge blockers) send:/alert 🔴 Blocker – <1-line issue> – Card <URL> |
BLOC:Raise timer starts (new entry). |
| 4 (wait) | Keep working on something else or switch to a Q2 card; log new timer. | Normal logging. |
| 5 (resolve) | • Post the fix as a comment. • Remove 🔴 label. • Stop BLOC: timer. |
— |
SLA reminders • Ops Manager acknowledges
/alertwithin 15 min. • Knowledge Gap triggers GF-SOP-1 → Issue + PR ≤ 24 h. • Any blocker open > 24 h auto-escalates to Ops & Sys-Ops Leads.
/alert syntax examples§
/alert 🔴 Blocker – Need API key for Insightful – Card https://trello.com/c/AbC123
/alert 🔴 Blocker – Oracle can’t locate Phase-C spec – posted Knowledge-Gap here https://t.me/c/…

📊 Why we log a separate BLOC: timer§
- Highlights true wait-time in WeekMetrics.
- Drives the “Time-to-Unblock” KPI (< 30 min 95 th percentile).
- Gives Ops insight into root-cause trends.
