⚡ How to “DO NOW (Q1)”§

Reference card – pin it at the very top of the Q1 Doing list. Duplicate this card for real tasks? NO. It’s a living cheat-sheet so you never wonder, “Am I using Q1 right?”

1 What goes into Q1 Doing ✅§

Add it …when these are true
Ready ⏳ card you just pulled • You have capacity (Q1 ≤ 3 cards)
• It’s the single most valuable next move (Eisenhower Q1)
Blocker card turned green Manager or Sys-Ops unblocked you – resume work
Time-boxed learning task Only if it’s on your Start-Here / Learning Loop board and you’re inside study hours

Never push cards here; pull only when you finish another Q1 card.

2 The “DO NOW” mini-workflow ⏱️§

  1. Drag one card into Q1 Doing → WIP badge must still read ≤ 3.
  2. Start a Clockify timer: Q1:<verb> – <5-word purpose> + paste the card URL on line 1.
  3. Work in flow – mute chat, Focus-mode ON.
  4. Commit evidence (Docs, Sheet row, Git PR, Butler log… as the SOP demands).

  5. Move the card:

  6. 💾 Needs manager look = Waiting for Approval

  7. ✅ Completely finished = Done (green)
  8. Stop the timer immediately.
  9. Start the next card only if WIP < 3.

3 Fast decision guard-rails 🛑§

If you catch yourself… Do this instead
With 4th card in Q1 → red WIP badge Finish / push one card to Waiting Approval or back to Ready ⏳
Thinking “this feels heavy / fuzzy” Pause ≤ 15 min; run Checklist ⇢ label 🔴 Blocked; /alert
Doing two tasks on one timer Stop → split timer; each task must have its own description & link
Card sits in Q1 untouched > 3 h Ask “Is it really Q1?” – maybe Q2 or delegate

  • Timer running & linked

  • Card moved out of Q1 (Done ✅ or Waiting Approval)
  • Timer stopped, no overlaps

Mantra: “Fewer, faster.” Max three Q1 cards, one timer, zero drag. Flow beats force—if it’s heavy, escalate or reshuffle.
